A little bit about us....
We started out with Icelandic horses as a business in 1995, where we
ran a successful trail riding company in the West Highlands of
Scotland. We used only Icelandic horses and offered people the
opportunity to discover the remote West Highlands of Scotland on horse
back from 3 day tours to 6 day tours on these sturdy little horses.
Accessing areas of real remote, that no other horse dared! This was
a wonderful, but remote, way of life and we made many friends along the
way both from Britain and much further afield.
Over the years, Frank's interest in the development of the gaits and
breeding horses started to grow, and he spend the next few years working
out in Iceland at periods over the winter months, until he gained his FT
status in 2000. We started concentrating more on training horses and
developing a breeding programme, when we bought our first stallion from
Iceland in 2002. It soon became apparent that with our growing
family and less activity in the riding tours, that no longer was the
remote location of our home in the West Highlands a necessity. Our
eldest child was at school and the next one due to start and the more
active they became socially, the more our remoteness became an
issue. So were to be on the move....
...We had been involved with riding courses etc at Etal in
Northumberland in the past, and the opportunity arose to move our business
South in 2004. The rest they say is history!
We now have 4 young boys, who are all quite different and they share
our interest in Icelandic horses. Our eldest son is a keen
competitor in Icelandic Sports Competition and has been performing well in
the Youth Classes of competition with his mare Fífa. At 13, he
loves nothing better than to help out in the stable and is keen to be
involved in the training of young horses.
